Paramus, NJ - Multi-Vehicle Crash with Injuries on Rt 17

Paramus, NJ (August 29, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving two SUVs caused major traffic disruptions on Route 17 North on August 26 around 8:30 p.m.

According to authorities, the collision shut down several northbound lanes and even forced the closure of one lane on the southbound side of the highway. Emergency responders were called to the scene, though the extent of any injuries has not been reported at this time.

The crash created significant backups in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene and assist those involved. Drivers in the area were urged to seek alternate routes until the roadway reopened later in the night.

This is a developing story, and additional details regarding the condition of the victims and the cause of the crash are expected as the investigation continues.

Bergen Co., NJ - Wrong-Way Driver Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash on Rt 17

Bergen Co., NJ (August 23, 2025) – A wrong-way driver from Rockland County is facing charges after causing a multi-vehicle crash late Friday night on Route 17, authorities confirmed.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on August 22, when a 64-year-old man from New City, N.Y., entered the northbound lanes of Route 17 at Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus while driving south in a Honda HR-V. Ramsey police officers had attempted to stop the driver moments earlier, though the reason for the initial pursuit has not yet been disclosed.

According to Ridgewood Police Capt. Glenn Ender, the HR-V collided with an Amazon Prime tractor-trailer and a Honda Odyssey minivan near Race Track Road. The impact forced the tractor-trailer through the concrete center divider, spilling fuel and causing significant traffic disruption.

Four people were hospitalized following the crash, including the wrong-way driver, who was taken into custody. Three others were transported to The Valley Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, all injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

The crash left northbound Route 17 traffic diverted onto Race Track Road, while southbound lanes were reduced to one lane as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The New Jersey Department of Transportation repaired the damaged divider, and the Bergen County Hazardous Materials Unit cleaned up the fuel spill.

All three vehicles involved were towed from the highway. Ramsey police have filed charges against the driver, with additional counts expected from Ridgewood authorities.

We wish those hurt in this incident a swift recovery.

New Jersey Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle accidents resulting in fatalities remain a heartbreaking and all-too-common reality throughout New Jersey. With busy highways, heavy traffic, and a mix of city streets and rural roads, riders face constant hazards every time they take to the road. When crashes occur, the outcomes are often tragic—leading to severe injuries or the loss of life.

A significant number of these deadly collisions stem from the negligence or inattention of other drivers. Whether it’s failing to check blind spots, speeding, distracted driving, or disregarding traffic laws, careless motorists place motorcyclists in extreme danger. Unlike occupants of cars, motorcyclists lack protective barriers, making even minor lapses in judgment potentially fatal.

The death of a loved one in a motorcycle accident is a profound tragedy that leaves families overwhelmed—not only with grief but also sudden financial challenges such as funeral expenses, lost income, and ongoing emotional hardship. Many of these losses could have been avoided if others had exercised proper care.

For over four decades, our firm has been dedicated to supporting families across New Jersey affected by fatal motorcycle crashes. New Jersey Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle fatalities continue to be a tragic and far too frequent occurrence across New Jersey. With congested highways, fast-moving traffic, and a mix of urban and rural terrain, motorcyclists in the Garden State face significant risks every time they ride. Many of these fatal crashes are caused by negligent or inattentive drivers. From failing to check blind spots before merging to speeding, distracted driving, or ignoring traffic signals, driver carelessness puts motorcyclists in grave danger. Unlike those in passenger vehicles, motorcyclists have little protection in a collision, making even a moment of negligence potentially deadly.

Losing a loved one in a motorcycle accident is an unimaginable loss. Families are left grieving while also facing sudden financial burdens, including funeral costs, lost income, and long-term emotional suffering. In many cases, the crash could have—and should have—been prevented.

At Stern & Stern, we understand the pain and frustration families endure after a fatal motorcycle crash.
