Hasbrouck Heights, NJ – Police Officer Injured in Crash at Franklin & Terrace Aves
Bergen County, NJ (November 18, 2025) – On Tuesday, November 18, at approximately 5:11 a.m., a Hasbrouck Heights police officer was hospitalized following a serious crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Franklin and Terrace Avenues.
Preliminary reports indicate that Officer Johanna Sanchez’s police vehicle entered the intersection with a green light when a vehicle from Air Culinaire Worldwide failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision.
Both the officer and the other driver, a 64-year-old man from Hackensack, were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Officer Sanchez was later released.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Summonses are expected for the driver who failed to stop, and mutual aid responders from Holy Name BLS, Wood-Ridge Police, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
We extend our hopes for a full and speedy recovery to both drivers involved in this collision.
Compensation After Collision in Hasbrouck Heights
Traffic accidents in Hasbrouck Heights and across Bergen County can lead to serious injuries, long-term medical care, and significant financial and emotional challenges. Even collisions that appear minor can have lasting effects, including chronic pain, limited mobility, and ongoing medical needs.
Victims of accidents caused by another driver’s negligence, failure to obey traffic signals, or reckless behavior may be entitled to pursue compensation to help offset these unexpected burdens.
Compensation typically includes medical expenses, such as emergency care, hospital stays, surgeries, rehabilitation, medications, physical therapy, and ongoing treatment for lasting or permanent injuries. Lost income or diminished earning capacity can also be claimed if injuries prevent the victim from returning to work or reduce their ability to earn income in the future.
Victims may also pursue pain and suffering damages, which account for the physical discomfort, emotional distress, and reduced quality of life caused by injuries. In severe cases, compensation can cover emotional trauma, long-term disability, or permanent injuries. If property was damaged, such as vehicles or personal items, victims can also seek reimbursement for repair or replacement costs.
In addition, victims may be eligible for compensation for rehabilitation-related expenses, such as counseling, occupational therapy, or home modifications needed to adapt to new limitations. Legal claims can also address transportation costs for medical appointments or specialized care. Documenting the accident thoroughly, including medical records, photographs, and witness statements, is crucial in establishing liability and maximizing compensation.
Consulting with a car accident lawyer ensures that all potential damages, including less obvious long-term costs, are properly considered and pursued.
