Causes of Car Accidents in Paramus
Car accidents in Paramus frequently occur at busy intersections where traffic volume is high, and drivers must make quick decisions. One of the most common contributing factors is speeding, which reduces a driver’s ability to react safely to turning vehicles, traffic signals, and sudden stops. Excessive speed is particularly dangerous on main roadways, where even a minor misjudgment can lead to serious injuries.
Failure to yield is another frequent cause of intersection crashes. When drivers misjudge the speed or distance of oncoming traffic while turning, the risk of side-impact or head-on collisions increases significantly. Distraction also plays a major role, as drivers who are focused on phones, navigation systems, or other in-vehicle activities may miss critical cues from surrounding traffic.
Environmental conditions, such as heavy traffic during evening commute hours, can further increase the likelihood of accidents. Reduced visibility, driver fatigue, and congestion all contribute to heightened risk during peak travel times. In addition, road design, unclear signage, and construction zones can create confusion, increasing the chance of sudden lane changes or abrupt braking. Weather conditions like rain or fog may further reduce traction and visibility, making collisions more likely. Together, these factors highlight the importance of cautious driving, obeying speed limits, and remaining attentive in high-traffic areas to help reduce serious crashes.
Victims of motor vehicle accidents may face substantial medical expenses, lost income, and long-term physical and emotional challenges. Compensation may be available to cover emergency care, hospital treatment, rehabilitation, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Pedestrian Accident Causes in Bergen County
Pedestrian accidents remain a serious concern throughout Bergen County, particularly at busy intersections and along heavily traveled roadways. Several factors commonly contribute to these incidents.
Driver distraction is one of the leading causes, as motorists using cell phones, navigation systems, or other in-vehicle technology may fail to notice pedestrians crossing the roadway. Failure to yield the right of way, especially while turning at intersections, is another frequent factor in pedestrian crashes.
Speeding also plays a significant role, as higher speeds reduce reaction time and greatly increase the severity of injuries when pedestrians are struck. In addition, low visibility conditions such as nighttime driving, poor lighting, or adverse weather can make pedestrians harder to see. Impaired driving due to alcohol or drugs further increases the risk of serious or fatal pedestrian collisions.
Even at relatively low speeds, pedestrian crashes can result in severe injuries, including head trauma, spinal injuries, fractures, and internal injuries. Victims often face long recovery periods, mounting medical expenses, and emotional distress.
Pedestrians injured due to driver negligence may be entitled to compensation under New Jersey law. Recoverable damages may include medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering. A New Jersey pedestrian accident lawyer can help victims investigate the crash, identify responsible parties, and pursue fair compensation.
