Motorcycle Accident Causes in Bergen County

Motorcycle accidents in Bergen County can occur for a variety of reasons, and multiple factors often contribute to collisions. Common causes include:

  • Driver error or distraction: Both motorists and motorcyclists may be distracted by cell phones, GPS, or other in-vehicle tasks.

  • Failure to yield or improper turns: Vehicles making sudden turns or lane changes can collide with motorcycles, especially at intersections.

  • Speeding: Exceeding speed limits or traveling too fast for road conditions reduces reaction time and increases the severity of injuries.

  • Road conditions: Wet or uneven roads, potholes, and debris can cause motorcyclists to lose control.

  • Impaired driving: Alcohol or drug use by drivers or riders remains a significant risk factor.

Motorcycle accidents often result in serious injuries, including fractures, head trauma, road rash, and long-term mobility impairments. Victims may also face emotional and psychological impacts, such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress.
