Paramus, NJ (March 11, 2026) – On Tuesday evening, March 10, a Paramus police officer helped rescue a driver who became trapped inside an overturned SUV following a traffic collision near Bergen Town Center.
According to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti, Officer Hugo Rodriguez responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Forest Avenue just before 8:30 p.m.
The crash occurred when a 60-year-old woman from Hackensack, who was driving a Honda SUV, attempted to make a left turn at a traffic signal in the area.
Authorities said the SUV was struck by another vehicle traveling southbound. The force of the collision caused the Honda to overturn, leaving the driver trapped inside the vehicle.
Officer Rodriguez was able to reach the vehicle, open the door, and safely remove the driver’s seatbelt, allowing the woman to exit the overturned SUV.
Emergency responders later transported the driver to Hackensack University Medical Center with complaints of pain. Officials have not released additional information regarding the other driver involved in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by local authorities. Traffic in the area was briefly affected as first responders worked to assist the driver and secure the scene.

According to authorities, the 31-year-old woman pedestrian was pinned beneath the vehicle following the collision. First responders arrived quickly and worked to free the victim before providing emergency medical care at the scene. The injured pedestrian was then transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment. Officials described her injuries as critical.
